AKW Group Limited are delighted to announce that as of Monday 8th October 2018, they have become the tenth acquisition of the highly esteemed Kinaxia Logistics. The Kinaxia group, considering this most recent acquisition, boast an impressive turnover of 140 million per annum, revenue driven by a fleet of 700 vehicles, 1.6 million square foot of storage space and circa 1,500 staff. The acquisition includes both group companies, AKW Global Logistics and AKW Global Warehousing, and brings a unique value proposition to Kinaxia’s already impressive portfolio with the addition of Contract Packing capabilities.

The Kinaxia family of brands includes Bay Freight, William Kirk, NC Cammack & Sons, Foulger Transport, Lambert Brothers Haulage, Panic Transport, AJ Maiden & Son, Mark Thompson Transport and BC Transport. AKW are honoured to become part of such a formidable alliance, and excited about the expansion prospects, with further acquisitions planned.

AKW’s strong identity and proud allegiance to its Manchester roots will be maintained. In addition, they will be able take advantage of systems and processes developed by the Kinaxia Group to ensure optimal customer service and operational cohesion.

The acquisition marks the retirement of original AKW Founder & Chairman Tony Worthington, who through his shrewd business mind and entrepreneurial spirit leaves a strong legacy that will be maintained in the business. His character will be greatly missed. Tony comments ‘We are thrilled to be joining Kinaxia Logistics, to ensure a secure future for the business, it’s employees and customers. The opportunities for growth in collaboration with the Kinaxia subsidiaries are phenomenal.’

As a huge positive, consistent with all their previous acquisitions, Kinaxia will maintain all management and operational staff. Existing Managing Directors, Julian Richards and Rebecca Davies, will remain in office, and Vice Chairman Paul Welsh, founder of Global Logistics UK Limited, which joined forces with A K Worthington Limited in 2014 to create the AKW Group, will join the central Kinaxia team to give the Group the benefit of his substantial operational expertise. All existing AKW shareholders will maintain their personal interest in AKW’s future success by becoming shareholders in Kinaxia.

Kinaxia Logistics Director Peter Fields concludes ‘Kinaxia has established itself by acquiring successful, well run, high service-level, family owned companies and AKW is a perfect fit with our strategy of both deepening and broadening our position in the UK logistics market. We are delighted to welcome the AKW management team into the group and am confident that their extensive skills, knowledge and experience will help us extend our reach and further enhance customer service levels.’
